Your quilt is very pretty Patricia48. I love the matching solids. It really is neat material I wish they had had more, I bought the end of the bolt or I'da offered to go get more for ppl interested.

Well, I guess you'll just have to make a map of the US and put the appropriate one in each state. Add the state flag and there ya go. You're own tribute to the US. Maybe turn it into a gift for a returning veteran. California thanks you, Oregon thanks you, Idaho thanks you etc... That could be fun and inspiring at the same time.

You can fussy cut the birds and put them into a cathedral window pattern.. well thats what I saw first when I looked at it..

I saw a quilt at my last quilt guild where they used a yard and a half of fabric as the center of the quilt. They didn't cut it at all, but added fabric blocks around the edges.

If you did something like this, you wouldn't lose any of the states.

I'd fussy cut them, put them on squares on point, and add sashing. That way they appear to be at an angle, but really aren't and draw attention. Just a thought.

Yes, backing came to my mind but 2 yards is not enough. A border maybe or the center of a square in a square. I like that fabric too.
