I haven't made a bow tucks bag but have plenty of other purses that I have made. They are fun to make and light weight to carry.

I agree, not my cup of tea either. But think they are cute.

As far as totes to, they look great.

I like to be able to close my purse/bag with a zipper or large flap. Don't like people to be able to look into it.

Here are the ones I've made: I add the rings to the handles because as I was looking at a leather bag i had, that's the way it was made.

I agree. I made one for my friend for a birthday present and another for my daughter, but not for me. I prefer to stick with quilt tops.

Well, not exactly but way in the bottom I do have a zip lock baggie with a pair of footies, a change of undies, a travel size packet of baby wipes and a couple of panty liners! Then there's the eyeglass case and cleaner, the zip lock bag with tea bags and sugar packets, a calculator, hand lotion, blah, blah, blah...So little purse are not on my list.
LOL reminds me of the days I had to carry a diaper bag for the babies and had everything but the kitchen sink with me. I am getting there for myself too. Haven't gotten to carrying every thing you are but do have some of them. I suspect it won't be long before I will have it all. :-)

And after visiting in a really big city using public transportation I understand why everyone there carries the big totes. You probably have to take everything you may need with you when you leave for the day as you are unlikely to go home in between.

Is there a bow tuck with a zipper closing? I'm thinking not but thought I'd ask 'cause you never know.

Try sewing velcro - will that work? Much easier than zippers, and pretty secure. Also gives an excuse to add more embellishments to cover the velcro stitching!

Not to say they are not desirable to others - to each their own.

I'm here for the quilts as well and draw great knowledge and inspiration from the many quilt photos, patterns and tips posted by all members.

Also, the general chit-chat area offers a lot of interesting topics to ponder as well.
Gotta say - this tickled me! You'll dress your dogs up in little outfits, but having a fabric bag is tacky?? Sorry - just had to tease you a bit! :D
