I worked for JoAnn's last year when we moved an old location to a bigger one...when you sign up for the mailer, be patient, it took mine about 3 months to start showing up...they are remodeling or opening something like 27 stores a year!
Here's an article I found on line:
    Ohio-based Jo-Ann Stores sold for $1.6 billion
    Thursday, December 23, 2010 08:42 AM

    The Columbus Dispatch

HUDSON, Ohio (AP) - Jo-Ann Stores Inc. is being bought by an affiliate of private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners LP for about $1.6 billion.

The fabric and craft store operator's stock jumped $15.32, or 34 percent, to $60.95 in Thursday pre-market trading.

The deal is valued at $61 per share, a 34 percent premium to Jo-Ann's Wednesday closing price of $45.63.

Lead Director Scott Cowen said in a statement that the Hudson, Ohio-based company was not actively seeking a buyout but felt it was in the best interest of its stockholders, workers and other partners.

Jo-Ann's board unanimously approved the deal, but is allowed to seek alternative proposals through Feb. 14, 2011.

The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2011 if the majority of stockholders approve the transaction.

If you have a super store, they usually have classes...and you can sign up to be a teacher. I just signed up to teach crazy quilt classes in Idaho Falls new superstore!!!

I used to use my coupons for one pack of photo transfer. They added up after awhile. They usually weren't on sale and if they were...they were all out. I don't live close enough to a JoAnn's to shop there often now.

You can use your coupon online on sale items. What they do is take 50% off the full price. Usually cheaper than the sale price plus with the cost of gasoline for me it is cheaper to pay shipping and have it delivered to my door. Also keeps me from buying more than the item I really want. I also save the time.

Yep more 50% offers. But back in ancient history, that's what they gave. The 40% ones came as a shock to me.

I remember reading about it but the name is escaping me. It's a holding company that owns some high end stores. Joann's seemed to be a step down for them.
Jo-Ann stores were bought by Leonard Green Co. see link below.

I hope the new company upgrades their fabrics! The only fabric I buy at joanns is drapery, our local store has a great drapery department but cheaper quilting fabric quality.

Always have a list of non sewing or crafting things (tape, duck tape, glue, lint roller, new ironing board cover, etc.) for the times your items are on sale. Always, alway, always use my coupons. Also on the pattern counter there is a book you can buy, and of coarse use your coupon, that has a full page of coupons on the back. That is always on my list because it has 2 - 50% and several 40% coupons that are good for several months.

Hmmm....that's interesting. I don't get any e-mails from them and every time I try to sign up they tell me I am already in the system. I get the mail circulars, but no internet stuff. I don't know who bought them, but I am noticing things slowly changing in the store. The fabric quality has definitely declined. Everything is made "Exclusively for Joann Fabrics". That should tell you something.

I'm getting more too but their prices have gone up. Most fabrics are 25% off when they used to be 30% off..can't use coupons for sale items. Warm and natural batting in the packages(queen) are now 29.99 instead of 24.99 (used to be 12.50 half price on sale)...and it goes on and on. I like my quilt shops better!!!
