Did I read that right, this did not take a really long time to do. It is so graphic. What a great design.

Thank you, everyone... I made the tubes and cut the blocks one day, then put them all together the next day, so two days to piece the quilt top. You cut the blocks on the diagonal so you have to watch that diagonal stretching when joining them, also have to be careful not to loose any points when joining. Those were the only two slowdowns...

I purchased the scrap bag from a seller on Etsy who told me exactly what was in it-- I think 30 pieces that were basically 32" (rather than 40" ) jelly roll strips with the selvedge still on one side. You have to trim them back to 2.5", which was what they measured when you took off the selvedge. In the tute that I was following, she used 40" jelly rolls and said there were like 2 extra blocks when you cut the tubes. My 32" pieces gave me just the 4 blocks I needed to make each big diamond square. That was the perfect length pieces for this. So if you make this and cut your own strips, use 32" for the length.

The scraps were all from Moda's Bliss line, which is why they go together. There were primarily lots of the red and pink prints, and less of the greens, and virtually none of the blues or browns. So I bought a couple of quarter yards (not fat) of blues and browns, so I could make a few strips in those colors and balance it out. In the end I was working with 36 colored strips and 36 plain white strips I cut from some of my whites.

There is no pattern I know of, just this tute that I followed:

The top came out 50" x 66" and I have a stack of little pieced triangles leftover from when I cut the tubes, that I can use to make a baby quilt or something else.

Let me ammend that... when I posted this last night I had forgotten I added about 6 strips of the blue and brown Bliss fabrics that were not in the scrap bag. So the scrap bag had about 30, 32" strips. I added 6 more, plus 36 white strips from my stash.
