Fabric Moratorium Update - April 2011
#21
So far this month all I have bought was thread and 1/4 yard of fabric for the sleeve of my grandson's wall quilt. I was out of town and forgot the fabric for the sleeve at home.
Visited a friend and she gave me a bag of scraps. I didn't spend but the scrap stash is growing again.

Man ya'll are sooooo brave! I've actually put myself on a no fabric unless absolutely needed for a project myself. I've been keeping all my fabric in large 56 qt clear bins. Recently I've decided that the spare room closet is now for my stash. Well I never ever ever thought I had sooo much fabric. You know looking through bins is one thing seeing it in your face is another (and much easier)! Dang the best thing is I don't have to go through bins (which I think was part of the problem), it was much easier to go buy what I wanted. I'm really trying on this endeavor now, wish me luck! I love fondling fabric! This is going to be extremely hard!!!!!

I did purchase 1 metre of fabric this week. I needed it to finish my embroidered giraffe. So far so good

Sewcrafty & Mirabelle,
It is so great when you can see what you have. It helps to know what you have so you don't buy the same thing again. Shopping from the stash can really help the buying moratorium.
I,too, love fondling fabric that is why the last time I was in the fabric store I just got what I needed and didn't look. The more you fondle the more you want to purchase something. The temptation is greater.
Keep strong.

This is for those of us still struggling. I just found Bonnie Hunter's web site, www.quiltville.com. On the right she has a topic. Paralized by the Stash. She has some very compelling reasons why we should let fabric live at the fabric or thrift store until we need it. I hope I can do that at least for this month. So far so good. Pat
