The snowballs are 6" finished. I chose this size because I didn't want to work with anything smaller than 2". I used the 'wasteful' method of doing the HST's. By that I mean I cut 2.5" squares for the corner pieces; aligned two sides of the small square in the corner of the 6.5" square; sewed across the diagonal, and trimmed off the corner (leaving the 1/4" seam allowance, of course). So I have a large pile of little triangles that are headed for the trash, unless somebody wants them.

Thanks for the info--will use this idea for sure. Oh and don't throw those triangles out. Am sure you could do a PIF. Resewn they make a finished 1" HST (1 1/2" cut). I am sure some little quilt people would take them!

You made a good choice. A ot of hard -to-handle fabric. They look great here. The snow balls are big enough to appreciate the fabrics. I love country. :thumbup:
