I have dark teal colored carpet in my sewing room. (and living rooms) I like not having cold feet, as I go barefoot mostly. Have no problems finding pins and such, and the vacuum is run by my teenager! :)

No carpets in my house. I hate vacuuming, and this way the broom/dustmop gets most of it. Plus carpets are very bad for people with allergies; no matter how often you clean them they still harbor a lot of dust and bacteria. Wood or tile is so much easier to keep clean!

Took out carpet and had wood put in and in the adjoining bathroom (guest one, that is not used much). Love the wood!

I have an older home, sewing room is in one end of a large craft room, have linoleum on the floor, love it chair roles easy, sweeps easy, any spills wipe up easy.

If and when I redo my room..We are in talks about turning the garage into a space just for me ~ I want laminate! I don't care how often I have to sweep. I hate carpet! I have pets and I love them but they are dirty. Add to that the fact we live in the country. They bring their goodies they find in the house thinking "Look Ma! I brought you a treat!" Nasty!! I'd rather be able to mop and KNOW its clean than think about whats lurking in the fibers of the carpet. Plus the carpet was here when we bought the house...How do I know how its been cleaned before me?? We just redid the living room and hallway and I LOVE it! Plus pins don't get embedded in laminate. Big plus! =)

We just moved into this house and there is carpet in my sewing room. However, it's such a large room that we don't have the money to change it to tile right now. That is a future plan, because we will not only have to change the carpeted area, but also the old tile in the walkway next to it, the kitchen, and the eating area (all connected to each other, so quite a big space).

We did change the hallway and the master bath from carpet to tile.

Mine has carpet....with wood floors beneath. DH wanted to take up the carpet for me, but I like to sew in my barefeet and the winters are cold here in PA. Plus my pampered pet would miss the carpet when she is keeping me compnay. :)

I am in the basement with tile. Has all the advantages of laminate or wood, except it's probably colder, but that's easily dealt with. I can be as barbaric as I want (snips and scraps tossed thoughtlessly to the floor) and clean-up is a snap. I sweep, then run my magnetized pin holder over the pile before I sweep it into the garbage. Given the option, I'd go with most anything else before carpeting in the sewing room.
