Eleanor Burns lovers knot is a beautiful quilt and goes together very fast. If I had to make a quick quilt I would certainly consider this pattern.

Great idea!! I have had to do this before and they were just as glad to get it and it was easier on me.

I have to agree here.

What a great idea!

I gave a hand-appliqued wall hanging, the one in my avatar, to a dear friend for his anniversary. It wasn't completed yet, but he and his wife got to see what it was becoming! It took another 7 weeks to finish it, they said it was worth the wait! Had I tried to rush it, I'm sure I would have had to take some shortcuts and probably not done some of the embroidery.
When a project is rushed, the thought in my mind is "finish it." But when I have a lot of time I think, "How can I make this better?"

lovers knot is pretty quick can make a top in 2 days, you should only need a day for binding, I have bound a quilt in a day while watching TV

I did this for a baby quilt. I had the top done but not the rest. I had a picture put in a box and explained that the quilt will be done in a couple of weeks. It was the hit of the party. It is my avatar

Do you have a quilt top already done (UFO) that would be special enough for your friend? I also like the quilt label idea!

Check out the tutorials at:

I have made 4 quilts in the past two weeks. I love the layer cake one. I even cut my own layer cakes. These are so quick and turn out so beautiful.

Something fast and easy I have done is make tablecloths for a card table. All you need is 1.25 yd. Hem around and you are done. I have even done seasonal fabrics, ie- Valentines, St Pat's day, Easter, Christmas, etc. Then you could do some kind of "home entertaining" themed gift. And if you really want to go crazy, you could sew some ric rac around during the hem phase....
