Our quilt guild always sells old magazines that people have donated, at our annual quilt show. You might check around to see if a guild in your area has the same type of thing at their show.

In cleaning out, I had 3 yrs. of Fons & Porter that dated back to whenever. Called the library and they took them. If they don't get used they will put them on sale when they have a book sale. Might try them.

Our guild has our members bring in there old quilting mags. and books and sets up a table at our quilt show. We sell the mags. for $0.25 and books I think $1.00. The money goes into our charity account. We make a lot of money from that. The past 2 years it went for Quilts of Valor shipping cost.

Sell them to a antique store. They cost $1.00-2.00 there. Please don't throw them in recycling. Even the Salvation Army or Goodwill is a good idea, I love buying them there. Put them up for sale on this board, people will buy them from you and you can mail them media mail which is cheaper. Hey, I'd buy them from you too.

give them to the quilt guild if there is one near by.
Quilters are more likely to be interested in them.
Many libraries don't want them and the museum's devoted to textiles and quilts already have too many of the old Quilter's Newsletters.

Our Goodwill will NOT take magazines. Said it is store policy. I have gone through and copied all the quilting (machine and hand) that I like. After doing that I decided to keep them anyway, now that I am designing quilts in EQ7 for inspiration. If you really, really, don't want them, I would contact a local quilt guild (contact info is usually online) and offer to bring the pile to their meeting. They will take most of them home. I would LOVE to see the 80's ones. Wish you lived near Milwaukee, WI

If you value them even a little, how about Free Cycle or a quilt guild. Mags that is given to Salvation Army etc., St. Vincent De Paul (if they will even taken them) are tossed usually. Those in the "inner city" don't seem to appreciate them. Understandingly, they are more concerned about getting clothes, etc. Good luck
