If you are using the clear plastic foot piece on the BSR, be sure it is clear of lint. The lint can obstruct the "eye".

I don't know how to fix the skipped stitches but suggest, if you haven't already, take your BSR foot back to the dealer and ask them to put a new spring in it. My 820 BSR foot does the same thing - expect it's not a few skipped stitches and the dealer put a new spring in it. So far I haven't tried it again - I was so upset with it last time. I don't want to be upset about this machine again until after Christmas!

Check to make sure your needle is in all the way. This fixed my problem when it happened to me.

I have a 6600 and she will skip stitches only when there is a problem....it can be lint in the bobbin area, needs a new needle, the bobbin is almost empty or even the top thread is shredding (like it did on my last quilt).....all of those problems are easy to fix, just sometimes a little frustrating identifying that problem.

Peacequiltingnana, I also after much frustration over missing stitches on my Janome brought it in for service. I had tried EVERYTHING to fix the problem. Turns out the stippling foot was worn out and as soon as they changed the foot, it fixed the problem. Who knew?
So if anyone has a older well used foot, get it checked out.
