Looks fine to me. I did my first FMQ on my brother's quilt. One of my problems was moving the quilt. It was hard to hold onto.

It looks normal for the first try. Linda Taylor says to draw whatever you are trying to quilt because the mind does not differentiate between using your hand or your machine. So draw it out first and keep practicing drawing until you memorize it. Then your hands will know how to do it automatically.

Try making it look like a jigsaw puzzle. Practice, practice, practice..... Just make a bunch of small sandwiches and try different things. If you put the top on right side down and sew around three and a half sides, you can turn it, quilt it and use it for a hot pad! You'll be surprised at how fast you get better. You're already looking good, I found them all!

Don't give up. Practice makes perfect. You are doing great just starting it!

I read some where--maybe here?-- that FMQ is like holding the pencil still & learning to write by moving the paper under the pencil. So no wonder it's hard to learn!!! I also read that it takes about 40 hrs before you're even comfortable while trying. At least you had the nerve to try & guess what-I can find everything you mentioned! Good 1st try!!
