I like to think that a quilter will see this posting and be blessed with the fabric and quilt pieces, I am sure it will bring them joy and if it was my fabric I would like to think that someone else was able to benefit from it .

I saw an ad on Craigslist about 3 years ago for a home made quilt that said 'Iris Quilt'. I looked at the picture and sure enough, it was exactly what I wanted and the price was unbelievable. We finally connected after 3 months and he said he didn't want his Grandmother's quilts and he was glad I was buying it. I put it in a quilt show and named it after his Grandmother. I contacted him and asked her name and that is now the name of the quilt: ***'s Iris. Yes, it is sad that he wouldn't keep it but there were no children/grandchildren and I will take wonderful care of it and pass it on to my daughter who loves Iris flowers. I am very happy with this quilt and it has given a great deal of pleasure to everyone who has seen it. It was origially a kit from Lee Wards and now sells usually for hundreds of dollars if finished. She did expert work on this quilt and I figure whoever buys the stuff on Craigslist will appreciate it like I do.

The picture that touched my heart was the 2nd to the last with the ticking stripe nine-patches that has a block with QSTs in the center.

My daughter said she's helping me out by using my "stash"...HA!!! She said we should make some of the kits I have, also.....we'll see how many kits we can get made. : )

quilting in my60s

After reading something recently here on the board, I told my husband what to do with my quilting stuff, and machines, etc. My daughter doesn't do any crafts at all yet! She is 35 and just got married, I am thinking she might try to do something when she has children but we will see. I have a quilter friend who is teaching her daughter in laws to quilt and I told my husband to call her up and have her take what she wanted.

In bought 1 top $1.00 and 25 grandmother 's garden blocks .50'cents from an estate sale ..
I cherished both from this estate sale.
Mrs. Joiner in Tampa had made a gray and pink top and blocks. They both made wonderful quilts.
the flower garden blocks with mint green eyelit sashing won third place at Florida state fair. . Her husband had saved all his wife's quilting stuff until he passed away...a whole bedroom of fabric .
There was no family ..I feel honored to have acquired these pieces of art.

It really is a shame as they have no idea what her quilt things are worth, but then they probably don't sew. Guess we need to add a clause in our wills about who gets the quilts, fabric, etc. when we go off to that great quilting room in heaven.

my DH knows that my BFF gets everything and if we go together my will also states that anything my BFF doesn't want goes t her DIL, then charity. When I figured out that between the fabric, tools, machines and misc stuff I have over $15K worth of quit items, I sure don't want it trashed!!

MY DH and I talked about this this morning when we were at an estate sale. So many of the kids didn't even know what the parents are doing and dont share in the parent's interests. Our girls have been told that they can sell my stash only after my BFF has been through it. She can guide them if they want it. I won't needed. I hope they don't GIVE my sewing my machine away! It is a good one. Oh well.

well ladies, someone from the board messaged me and said, hey - I'll pay if you'll go get! So, I did. It fills two flat rate boxes, and I am getting it boxed today. The original offer was to 'share the booty', but I am not creative enough to 'take over' you know?

But, it did get rescued.

The pinwheels in the pictures are actually prairie points. 3D!! Very nice!
