    What I did was I treated each colour as separate and gave each a different FMQ pattern.

    That is very nice. I love batiks. I agree with DogHouseMom. An image in your quilting would be amazing.

    What if you freehand some lines just inside of the pieces of glass...say 1/4 inch in.

    I made a similar quilt back in 2005 but used all solids. I just did SITD but have always thought it needed quilting that could be seen. I've been thinking about making another with some of my mottles/marbles. I would quilt it 1/4" inside the black all the way around the color pieces.
