No. I. Did not prewash the flannel,never prewash any fabric anymore.
I have a question for you - did you prewash the flannel backing before quilting it? I have found flannels do funny things when washed. I am considering using a flannel for a backing on a current quilt, but worried it won't shrink the same as the top.

I use flannel all the time for my quilt backs, be sure to wash first its does shink and also it will pull away from your thread and make a tear. I have found that out after a few washings. thankfully it was small and I was able to applique over it.
