Ruth taught how to draw pattern with hatch marks. Cut it all apart. Cut fabrics. Put pattern back together matching hatch marks, BUT SLIDING ONE FABRIC FLAT UNDER THE turned quarter inch seem on the TOP LAYING FABRIC. Gosh, does this make any sense to you????!!!! Then you SEW FROM THE TOP!!!!! Hardly any pinning, we used little iddy bits of Scotch tape!!!!!!

I typed out a whole answer to your question, and it disappeared! I'll try to answer again here.
Ruth taught us how to draw the pattern with numbered pieces with hatch marks all over. Cut apart and ironed onto fabric. We used Freezer Paper. Then put back together SLIDING ONE PIECE FLAT UNDER THE TOP PIECE that had the quarter inch seam allowance already ironed down. It was then SEWN FROM THE TOP! Hardly used any pins. We used tiny pieces of Scotch tape. I'm sure you can find her on the Web Ruth Kennedy from Canada.
