    I would go with disappearing nine patch and then change the colors around. There is also another one based on disappearing nine patch called Magic Twist. This would be easy to move the colors around.

    Subway Tiles/Blocks in one and the other of longer strips depending on how elaborate you want to be sewing...

    I would use whatever patterns you want but use the same fabrics in both quilts. The color scheme would be the same but they would be different. Are there any patterns that you have been wanting to try??????

    I agree with Ditter, two log cabins in different patterns and/or colors would work well and not be terribly difficult to do

    I have a lake house that water and electricity, but is still pretty primitive. Sometimes we are not there for several months and things get dusty. I would go with scrappy in mostly med to dark with just a pop of lights.

    Thanks so much for that link. I watched the video, and that has great appeal. Will be running the idea past my daughter. So many choices, it is going to be hard.

    I'm thinking modern. I would try something to do with the lake and summer - sailboats, trees, cabins, bunting. Use 1 collection of fat quarters and a background fabric for both quilts.
    Google images for sailboats quilts and you get all sorts of cute ideas.
