I'm like several of the others in that when I have had them on beds that they have moved around and just been a nuisance ... or fallen on the floor, where they were no good! Good idea for brightening a plain bedspread which I with my quilts, I do not have!

It sure would beat making a big quilt, and yet give something nice and showy along with that plain spread. You could have a whole wardrobe of bed runners and keep changing them up for different looks!

they make no sense to me either. If someone gave me one, I'd probably wrap around my shoulders on a chilly night.

I think the bed runner would fall off the bed during the night, so don't see that as useful. I do agree that one of them could provide a pop of color/accent a bedroom.

I just can't imagine a quilter having plain comforters on the beds......

"Bedrunners" on not on my to do list.........

I've been quilting for 40 years, have made many, many quilts, and I have plain duvets on the comforters in my house. I also have pets who sleep on beds, a husband with significant disability and a child with profound Cerebral palsy, both of whom go through a lot of laundry each and every day-- all of which are factors why I like to use easily washed, easily replaced comforters for utility. I use pretty, colorful, smaller quilts for fun and seasonal color to change things up frequently. I like making lap quilts, throws, wall hangings, and light weight summery quilts. I'll let Lands End and Ikea keep on making the solid duvets and sheets we wash, bleach, and frequently replace.

There has been no flogging!!!
At least I have found out that I am not alone in not understanding them!

I will say, I see the place for them from the decorative side ........ as for a foot warmer, I still think they would only work for the person who has their feet perfectly aimed under the runner and never moves all night!!

I don't used bed runners but have put an extra quilt folded in half at the foot of the bed in case we need it on an especially cold night. We have an outdoor wood furnace and sometimes house gets a little to cold about 4 am.

I think if I was to make a bed runner I would make a plain on and do some fancy quilting on it.

Mine is quilted and does not fall off the bed. I love it. It is a Christmas themed one for the Holidays.
Can use it on the couch also.
Made one for my daughter too.
Fun to make as small enough to free motion on my sewing machine with no problems.
Next will make a floral one for spring.
