    They're all going to be some sort of basic light weight mineral oil.

    Considering that we now know that the Singer oil has changed formula at least once in the last 14 years, I think we can take away a lesson:
    Pretty much any type of oil will work so long as it's about the right weight, ie not too thick, not too thin.

    The key (and I think we all knew this already) is frequent application of whatever oil you prefer to use. Running a machine dry is the thing to avoid.

    Although the oil info was interesting, I'm pretty disappointed that Singer couldn't (or wouldn't?) give me the MSDS for the grease.
    I know that would have made a lot of people happy.
    Worth a try though, right?
