Your Lone Star is gorgeous. While I don't usually gravitate to grey, your choice is spot on. The FW is darned pretty too. I often use 80/20 and like it very much; think you'll be happy with it. If you do some practice machine quilting first, you'll be fine. Just go slowly.

Can't wait to see this beauty finished!

The grey looks fine. The sewing machine is a model 15-88 and will be great for quilting. The is a large thumbscrew under the bed near the bobbin. You can turn the screw to lower the feed dogs if you want to fmq. Take a look over in the vintage machine forum for a wealth of information. The vintage machine aren't scary after you learn to take care of them.

The gray is a great choice, and I'm sure whatever you choose for binding will be perfect, you have a good eye. trust your instincts!

Enjoy the beautiful machine. It looks like it's in nice condition. What a nice surprise!!!

What a beautiful quilt. The dark grey looks great with it. I am amazed at how thrifty us quilters can be. Love the machines.

Beautiful Star! Love the colors and the dark grey makes it pop!
    A. Lot of people use old machine like yours to piece and quilt. I have feather weight that sews beautifully.

I totally agree with Dunster, you have a 15 Singer. Not sure if it is 15/90 or 15/91, but a heck of a machine. Love your star and I like a deep red.

I also like the grey background. It makes the star stand out..... lovely.

The machine you have is a Singer model 15, as others have said. I see a belt... is it a treadle machine? The 15-91 has a potted motor, looks like a round bulge on the back. I own 2 15-91s and bought a 3rd for my SIL that would come over and FMQ on mine all the time. You'll love your machine. It is very easy to clean up and oil.... they do quilting much better than any of the fancy $$$$ machines I have. It is easy to find manuals and parts if you need them.
I hope you'll enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
