I might pass on a scallop edging for this quilt, but keep it in mind for the next quilt, especially since your nephew has such strong feelings about it.

I would tend to think that scallops are "girlie". Do you have a lttle girl that you could make a quilt for and put scallops on it?

i would try Prairie Points i just did a Baby Boy quilt with monsters and stars and the inside border had prairie points on it .
