There are several types of French braids -- the one with corner stones and the one without. Another decision to make -- do you want to work off of a center block and have the points go to the outside, do you want to have points meet in the middle or do you want to have all the V's go in the same direction....... I do like the leg pairs to match (yeah -- a bit anal), but have done the one with corner stones where the corner stones were random fabric blocks. There are a lot of choices.

I am working on using up mu scraps with the braid pattern. My strips are 2.5" wide and 7.5" long with a 2.5" square in the center point.

I am doing one in lights with a dark square accent and one in darks with a light accent.

I don't have pictures yet but will post a few on Wednesday.

PS: I have also made a scrappy log cabin and a clam shell log cabin to use up my mountain of scraps. The pile hasn't gone down yet. Keep on sewing!

    Go for it!

Here is my scrappy braid, entirely from my scrap bins. This is the light tone one and I am making a dark one too. I have enough scraps to make several of these fun quilts.

I used 2.5" x 7.5" strips with a 2.5" square for the center. The sashing is 1.25" (finished width is .75")
I truely enjoy making these. Have fun with your creation and be sure to post so we can all enjoy it.

with the backing which also came from my stash and not planned this way either. I looked through so much fabric till I came across the zinnias. I think it works quite well and makes me smile when no plan comes together this well!

    Enjoy the doing.
