Sigh! These are on my "Before I Croak List". I think floating down the river has got to be more fun than being out at sea somewhere. IF you take one, report back with photos.

I would love to take any kind of cruise, but I have a problem. My DH is 6'5" tall and the cabins on most cruise ships are only 6'3" tall (unless you book one of the most expensive cabins). He refuses (and I can't blame him) to be bent over. He barely fits lengthwise in a queen sized bed - he sleeps diagonally (while I skoosh up in one corner). I don't think a cruise is in our future. I have called many a cruise line company and unless we upgrade to the most expensive cabins, it is a no go. <sigh>

ILoveToQuilt, I understand about your husband and sleeping. My husband was 6'4" tall. We cruised on the Delta Queen in August 1974 and had the best room. Two electric fans were the air conditioning -- my husband had warned me about this. He didn't complain about the short bed because he REALLY wanted to be on the Delta Queen. It was a good/nice trip. I'm glad we did it because he died in 1995.

Son tells me he is arranging us all another Viking cruise starting in Amsterdam and ending in Basel for August of 2019. I hope Mr Stitchnripper and I can stay healthy!!

We are leaving in two weeks for the SanJuan Islands, WA with American Cruise lines. It is our second trip with them. The smaller ships and less people is a much more relaxed way to go. The ports are less crowed and we feel we are getting a better sense of the culture in each. And yes, go while you can!

If anyone has room in their luggage, I'd be willing to stow away! I promise, I won't eat much, won't make much noise, and WILL press your clothes. If interested please contact: ILoveToQuilt!
