Hi there from New Zealand! Glad to see I'm not the only new one to this board!
I too have spent hours making a quilt for a friend, only to have it under appreciated. A fellow quilter said every time she made a quilt for someone it seemed to end their friendship!! (Horror of horrors!)

However, whenever I've custom made a quilt for a friend who has paid for it, it is quite a different story!

RoseofSharon... I just LOVE your name and also the stunning table runner in your profile picture. Did you make it? I would love to know what method you used?

Welcome and hello from Denver. I too prefer to make my quilts one at a time. You have come to the right place! We just had a thread about some people not appreciating the time and work that goes into making a quilt. They just don't understand.

Yes, parting is such sweet sorrow. I love to get the look of appreciation, but kills me to watch them go. We're so sad, aren't we? HA! I do take lots of pictures, and have started a "journal". I print off the picture, paste it in the journal, then write down when I finished it, and who I gave it to, if applicable.

Welcome, Debra Ann. I wish I had a little more of your discipline. I have dozens of half made tops and someday they'll be finished but I get so excited about a pattern or fabric that I just can't wait to START making it. I give most of my quilts away and like you, if I don't think they are appreciated or going to a good home I don't re-gift to that person. I've actually only had a couple that I wished I had never given but mostly people do realize the work involved in the making of a quilt and appreciate the love and caring that went into every stitch, too. Glad you joined us. Learn to post your pictures, we all get inspired by everyone's work.

Hi and welcome from the sunny state of Florida! I think we've all had a quilt or two that someone didn't absolutely love, but we go on to the next one and then someone tells you how they love it and can't believe they're getting one of your quilts! That's why we keep quilting! We appreciate all the hard work you do so don't stop now1
