Looks like white on white has it. That would be my choice also.

I use white, light creams and white on white. I have just found the Kona and love it in all the colors.

i think your question was about washing your whites? if you prewash your colors you need to pre-wash the whites also...everyone has their own (feelings) about pre-washing; it is up to you whether or not you do, the important part is...if one fabric is pre-washed, they should all be pre-washed. and if you are concerned about any bleeding color, they should be at least color tested before use.
but either wash them all, or don't wash any. if you wash 1/2 of the fabrics in a quilt and not the other half, chances are the (normal) shrinkage that is going to occur when your quilt is washed is not going to shrink evenly...(could) get a wonky quilt

White is very pretty inside a quilt. I have also used it as the border

Small design - white on white. Use white on white or ecru on white or white on ecru or ecru on ecru! This is what happens when you get set in your ways.

White on white is my choice. You can dye that and the pattern will remain white. I've also used Kona so I think its personal choice here, try each in a sample block and see which you like best. You should be able to get a fat quarter of them to try.

I, as well, use white on white.

I use the white tone on tone, or Kona white fabric for crib quilt machine embroidered blocks. When making my scrappy quilts I use the off white tone on tone. The white is just too bright.
I never use muslin to piece a quilt, it just isn't a good quality fabric for piecing. (Never use it for backing either, not durable)
For a modern quilt with bright colors the Kona white or the white tone on tone would work great depending on the other fabrics used.
