I'm told by cousins that I also am eligible for the DAR, going back through my Grandma's family. My father was Navy in WW1 as a young man who lied a little about his age. (He bragged that when Admiral Byrd toured ships, they hunted up all personnel who were named Byrd as an honor guard, he prized pictures of that visit.)
Both husbands were military, both brothers also, both sons also military. Only grandson and granddaughter, both enlisted on the same day. Most of my uncles and cousins and nieces and nephews were and are military, and/or police, it just seems the thing to do in our family.

My father was a vet, and my step-dad was also (both WWII). My DH's dad was a career Navy man (WWII), my DH's brother is 20 year Navy Reserve, DH's niece is Navy ROTC in college; my sister's husband is Vietnam Vet, 2 of my cousins are Vietnam vets, 2 of my DH's cousins are Vietnam vets, and our son is just getting out of the Army after 4 years.

Long history of service on both sides. My DH drove in our local Veterans' Day Parade today with our Soldiers Angels group from church.

I am a veteran. Served eight years active and 12 years reserve duty in the Air Force, and proud of it.

I am the GD of a veteran and the D of a vet and the Mother of an active service veteran who did two tours in Iraq. My husband is a preacher of the Gospel for years ,so, I suppose I am the wife of a veteran also.

Awesome - those are two of my all-time favorite planes!

My father was also in the RAF during WWII and DH served in the USAF in the Viet Nam era.

Where was your dad stationed? My dad was at Hornchurch, Biggin Hill, and Redhill.

I am the daughter of a WWII vet. Dad served in the south Pacific. DH is Vietnam ERA vet. Although drafted he didn't serve in Vietnam. He spent 23 months in Germany.
