Thanks everyone! What a warm welcome! I am waiting for my new sewing machine to come in. My hubby bought me a Brothers innovis 2800D for my birthday. I have an ancient Singer and a cheap Brothers that both are giving me problems. So I have just been practicing different blocks and cutting with the rotary cutter. I am measurly disabled as I have not been able to make 2 squares the same size yet. My rotary cutting leaves much to be desired. dont know what Im doing wrong. So I figured I will do lots of practicing and making coasters and pot holders just to get the hang of it. I dream quilts though. ;)

Hello JoAnn and welcome from Germany. Maybe you might want to take a class? I did it to learn the basics and never regret, it was more than worth the money. The rest you'll learn aboard, no problem.

I did take 2 sets of classes from JoAnns Fabrics. The local shop I bought my new sewing machine from will also give classes, though its on how to use my new machine, Im sure she will help me if I have any questions.
