    I've made 5 denim rag quilts. I used old jeans for the different shades of blue, and backed them with flannel. I'm having a hard time making them fast enough. Everybody want's one. no need to use batting as the denim make's it heavy any way.

    I have used fleece to make rag quilts, I only use 2 pieces, it really doesn't need a middle piece, it's warm enough, and I sew the 2 pieces together with an X, just like you would do if you were using flannel. Even though fleece doesn't "rag", it still looks great. Fleece does stretch in one direction more than the other so be sure all your pieces are cut and sewed with the stretch all going in the same direction.

    If you use the flannel to do your rag quilt, take it to the coin machines to wash. Don't wash it in your washing machine. All the little strings that come off can tear your machine up and believe me there is a lot of them. Ask me how I know!
