My mother had a Silkie (that's the short name they are generally called). His name was Brutus. My mother loved that mean little dog so much that we all referred to him as "our brother Brutus". He was very protective of her after Daddy died and Mama thought he could protect her from anyone! He would never back down! I had him for 4 years after Mama died; when I lost him I went through grieving again since he was such a part of her.

They are good little dogs; slightly bigger than a Yorkie. Brutus was really healthy until he was about 13; he did have hearing problems and then developed heart problems...but he had a good long life. Know you will enjoy yours!

I have a Yorkie who was a show dog in her earlier days and I was able to adopt her and give her a home to retire in. She is now 10 years old and adorable. She has a habit of pawing me with her left paw when she wants attention. Tells me if I pet you will you pet me. She has her own wardrobe, loves to dress up and is my traveling companion when I travel to see my grandchildren. Loves to go for rides.

We have Shyla, almost 2 yrs. old. She grabs a bite and goes away to eat it. How do you take care of an abscess in their mouth? Sounds really painful and serious as well as stinky.

My Chance is 4.4lbs & 5 yrs old. I got him when I was single & lived in a condo. He learned very quickly if I had socks then the walking shoes came on & we'd walk. So he started bringing me my socks as soon as I changed clothes after work. He even knew what drawer they were in & would jump in to get me a pr. I remarried & it took him awhile to adjust to my hubby. We moved to the country & now he chases & catches chipmunks, mice & snakes & kills them. Which is what Yorkies were bred to do. We started spelling words so he wouldn'to, barn, treat, ride, toy. If you asked him if he's a hungry boy, he'll lick his lips & run to the pantry. He is so much fun. Since learning he's a "hunter" he will go after any size dog, so I have to watch because I don't know what a large dog would do--thinking he's a moving stuffed toy!! He prefers only me, but when I'm gone hubby is OK.

Shes adorable. I have two toy dogs, not yorkies (Papillons), and I was never a little dog person until I got one. I still have a bigger dog, but I love my mites.
Thanks, I think you're right. We're going to try to feed her later..it seems that 4am is her potty time. She is crated at night & yips when she poops because she does not want it there!

We have a Lexi in our family. Use to have a Zoey but she is in doggie heaven now have a Chole'. Yorkies are the most wonderful little dogs. Mine is BJ. He is such a sweet dog. Sister raises them & has a house & yard full of them. Sometimes the females can be a bit testy. Daphne will bite strangers but has no front teeth. BJ loves all the kids. Most yorkies are good with kids. At least ours are. Good choice.
OMG!!! We had a Chloe!!! She was a Lhasa Apso & the very best dog we ever had. Lhasas are a tricky breed tho~ they can be sweet as sugar or just plain nasty depending on the breeder.

I don't have a Yorkie, but my little poodle does the same thing. I do also believe he has OCD. Everything has to be the same way all the time. If something is sitting on my bed he will get up there and face the wall and will not turn around until it is moved. This can lead to problems when I am quilting. He walks around and sneezes at everything until it is back in its place. He is that way with anything in the house, everything has it's place. He is a funny little dog. Obviously did not get that trait from me. I have a grandson who has Aspergers and is the same way, wonder if my Sandy could have that too?

We have 3 Yorkies. Biscuit is our 6 year old and he is the 'old man' of the family. Next is Raggs who is 3 and is a 'marker'. By the time we knew this we already loved him so we have learned to live around and with the drawbacks. Lastly is Punkin who is 8 months old and the only female and runs the others ragged! It doesn't take long for them to have a home in your hearts! All of the pictures posted are adorable. Thanks for sharing!
