I started crocheting when I was about 12. Never learned to knit. Most patterns are prettier when Knitted. Just wanted to say that everyone I ever taught to crochet makes the most beautiful complex things and Im still at the afghan stage!!LOL

A friend got me back into knitting last Christmas - now I knit so much it's really cutting into my sewing!

I have noticed how relaxing it is and have also read it is a wonderful tool for ADHD sufferers (children and adults) - many schools are using knitting and crochet with great success.

I recommended it to another friend who is taking a medication that makes her agitated - hope it helps her!

I taught crochet for 5 years. Many times, I'd make people rip out their work. But many times -especially with afghans- you can rip out from the beginning end and replace from the opposite direction.

I can crochet but not knit - I can't control the tension and the stitches are too tight - any hand embroidery, crocheting and cross stitching make me very mellow

I crochet, but never learned to knit. Never knew it regulated your heartbeat! Thanks for that info...I'll be passing that along!

I do both. Taught myself to do both from books. My way of doing stitches may not be the standard way, but it works for me.

I knit right handed and crochet left handed. I'd much rather crochet.

I remember it was my gramma that taught me to embroider and to knit.
My mom knit all our mohair sweaters growing up in Canada.
She crocheted the grandbabies countless outfits as well as baptism dresses.
When she came down with cancer and was in a place of healing sorta; I had her crochet all the bed dolls for memories sake.
I have the two beautiful sweaters in my closet she made me before passing. I will never wear them because I would never risk making them.

Interesting info on heart. I crochet and knit both, I am so slow at knitting.
