I usually crochet or knit while riding, but sometimes I work on the binding on a baby quilt. I hate to waste time just riding. Multi tasking is my middle name !!!!

I used to do small cross stitch pieces when I rode in the car...drastracted me from hubby's driving lol....now that I've decided to start to learn to hand piece, I may have to try that too. Can't read in a vehicle but for some reason the needlework hasn't bothered me (so far!).

I will hand quilt in the car when we travel, when the boys let me.

I usually get about an hour in on a four hour ride.

I went on the road with my DH when he was a truck driver and I crocheted lap blankets for all my and my husbands family. Was too afraid of jabbing my finger to quilt.

We just got back from a weeks vacation, and I spent quite a bit of time in the car, handsewing my quilt. I'm doing the entire thing by hand, and have more than 85 of the 105 blocks done now. As long as we're on an expressway, with no close trees, etc., then I have no problem sewing when we travel. I LOVE how much I can get done on a 10-hour trip!!

You can take different hand projects in that length of time and trade off in case you need some variety.

I love to make baby quilts. I am with you on the multi-tasking. I have to keep busy all the time.
