Off topic but if you make a lot of ruffles this is the greatest! :http://www.clover-usa.com/product/45...inch-_15_Yards

I have a ruffler and it works great! It saves me alot of time and the results are professional looking.

I bought a Viking Rose that had the attatchments for embroidery. I was told when I bought it that it worked. I haven't even put it on the machine to try it. I bought it in 1996? So, obviously, some attatchments are not for me.
Now my serger feet, I purchased for a reason and used each one for either a Bridal Gown or Bridesmaids dress or the flower girls dresses. Some of the feet were for adding pearls/ribbons on the edge of the veil.
When it comes to extra stitches, I don't use that many decorative stitches in quilting.

It's common with ANY machine, not just a sewing machine, to primarily use 3-5 attachments while the others gather dust. It depends on how you use the machine.

I plan to buy the ruffler. I make curtains, bed linens. I also love ruched quilt borders, something I can't do easily without a ruffler. Click HERE to see an example of a ruched sashing to get an idea.

The newer machines don't seems to come with all the attachments like they used to yrs ago but it seems there are always some you never get around to using. You never know what you'll use in the future so I'm glad to have them. Sue

I bought my Pfaff in 1999. I still haven't made a buttonhole with it but I've used the ruffler I bought for it several times.

Had rufflers through the years and never used them. . . not a "ruffle person" and I have all boys.
My Bernina shop is starting a new club. The foot of the month. Every month they have a class, you get to use the foot, see if you like it and buy it or not. No purchase is necessary. One more reason I have a Bernina.

Plainpat, Thank you so much for the link. I have several vintage machines with lots of neat attachments but many look scary! Now I think I'll try some of them -after Christmas though
