The chemical washes out and it's acid free and if the lines do come back in a cold environment, throw the quilt in a hot dryer.
DGD has tee shirts that prove that all the washable Crayola marker colors do not wash out. Be sure and test each color first.

just ordered them, can't wait for them to come in the mail. I ordered a pkg of three on pilot website, no shipping charge!
I had been struggling trying to find a marker, pen pencil that would show up good on the fabrics. A coworker that also quilts told me about Pilot Brand Frixion Erasable pens. Said she got them at a quilt show however, Staples also carries them (I'm sure other office supplies places do also. I got the 3 pack last night and I have to say I love these things. They make a nice clear crisp line that makes it easy to hand quit. Then the lines disappear when you apply the iron. They also have a 6 pack , 8 pack, single and double (Single and double only are in black) But I have to say I love these things. I have purchased a ton of pencils, and markers and none of them work that great or the lines are real light and smudged and with hand quilting I felt I needed that nice crisp line to follow.
I tested them on several pieces of fabric last night both light and dark and gone as soon as the iron touched it.

Starlight they were with the rest of the pens. They were grouped by Mfg. and they were at the very bottom row. They were really hard to see. I just bought a three pack of the Pilot Brand Frixion Erasable pens last week. I trace my Darcy Ashton bunnies with a light table and I can't wait to try them out. Since I blanket stitch the edges and I actually snip into the tracing line when I hand applique, there isn't much of the marking showing, but I like the idea these marks disappearing with heat. Someone was really thinking when they came up with this one!
