    I did a demo of this method and block for guild. I like it because you can make it so many sizes as long as you keep things proportional. Remember that the amount you don't sew in the corners must equal the width of the strip. You'll need to make a squaring template to reflect the new size as well but that's easily done. It makes a good stand alone block for mug rugs, pot holders and such. I've made coasters that finish at around 4.5". If math sends you over the edge then modifying the size won't be your cup of tea but if you like experimenting give it a try.

    Thank you for the link, just printed it out to go with the pattern instructions. Am cutting my own scrap layer cake squares and this will fit right in.

    I have never seen it done in those colors before but love it. I like the shading that you used in your fabrics. Another idea!
