    I know the fabric handles batter for some purposes, but I gotta wash it. I just don't want the residues from manufacturing, human handling, insects, transportation, etc. Especially since so much of it is imported from countries where dangerous chemicals are routinely used.

    I usually wash my fabrics before starting a quilt. This way I feel it takes the sizing and starch out of the fabric and I get a true size when I start cutting pieces for blocks
