Although I like the "traditional" baby quilt colors I don't feel that a baby quilt always has to be either blue for a boy or pink for a girl. I think what you chose for this quilt will fit the likes of the family perfectly and they will love it. I think it is adorable!!!
I like your red ric-rack idea, or maybe use white cotton eyelet lace for a border finish, either should "girl" this up.
    Really precious quilt!!
PS-OK so I did not read through the thread first....LOL. I guess my suggestions go along with the majority!! :D

I like Rachel's idea about adding a red ruffle around the outside of the quilt.

I love it the way it is.......I'm finding that the "younger" generation of parents aren't interested in traditional baby colors. I wouldn't do anything to "girly" it up.....

Another way is to do the backing in a very, very feminine girly fabric....if you can find something with ballerina dogs or something LOL!!!

How about in the corner stones pieces applique hearts... like in I love dogs. But you wouldn't put hearts on a boys one right.

I really like the fabric choice. It's very nice as is. Girls adore puppies. RicRack seems to be tacky looking after a few washing so I'd rethink that.

I didn't think about the ric rac getting icky after a few washings. i knew that lace gets fuzzy sometimes. good thing the baby's not due till April-gives me time to ponder.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions . I'll be sure to post pics when i'm done.

Beautiful, beautiful. Any little girl would love this. I like the idea of rick-rack or lace in the borders.
