That's the cool thing about this board we can share information that is beneficial to others. The other person making this quilt may be saved hours of time and frustration because you have forwarned her.

Hey, RG--I think your quilt is gorgeous!!! And no one would ever know you had difficulties with it if you did not tell them. :)
As to the border.....I would not put one around it unless you want it to be bigger. I think it is gorgeous just the way it is-I would bind it in black and call it done!
If you do decide to put another border, use the black and it will make your sawtooth border "float". Would be a neat effect.

If you have enough more of the squiggly lines fabric you used for the inner border, I think it would make an awesome outer border as well - same width as the inner border is what I'm envisioning. Then bind with your darkest print.

Thanks so much everyone! You are all so kind. I liked it myself, so I figured my brother would. He is from that era.
Well the end of it anyways.
I didn't have any more trouble after the first set of blocks I did. I revised the rest of the short blocks to make sure they had the right sized pieces. I am just glad I didn't cut it all out first like she says to do. It would have been maddening to fix it then!
I think I will add one maybe two more small borders maybe three. Not for the size but for the design's sake. It needs to stop the design better. And like you girls say, it will be easier to bind it.
