Oh, that is so pretty, I think I would go with a quilt.

Wow, that looks great. So now I have a question for you since I haven't tried one of these - on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to make. 1 being easy 10 difficult.

Honestly, it's really not diffucult at all. It's a little time consuming to prepare each block but not too bad. I'd say on your scale it's probably a 4... The most important thing is to make sure your bacground pieces (in my case, the navy blue fabric) is perfectly square before you start sewing it up and turning it inside out. If they're not perfect, it's more difficult to make all of your pices line up and it's hard to fudge them because they're like finished blocks - there's no batting and backing to add later.
If you're unsure, plan for a wall hanging size, my background pieces were 12" squares, which folds down to about 6". If you only make 9, 12, or 16 blocks, it makes a great wall hanging size. Then if you don't like doing it so much, you still will have tried the method, and if you do like it, you can cut out more pices and add to it. :)

And thanks to everyone for the comments :)

I love the way the colors pop against the dark fabric. Like the idea of doing enough for a wall hanging and then keep going for a quilt if I like doing the blocks. No matter which you do it is a winner. Well done and beautiful.
