They are pictures printed on cloth and sewn in when the arcs are stitched down. In other words they are permanently attached to the wall hanging.

Wonderful! I have been wanting to do a gouple picture quilts, what has everyone found to be the best method? I got a little overwhelmed trying to figure it all out. I am doing good to find the pixs on my computer lol. This quilt is one of the best I have seen as far as the photo quality.
