Confirming I mailed the May birthday envelope today.

Yes, WMUTeach, I will plant blue lobelia but also some white ones with the red geraniums - the contrast in colors looks very festive all summer long, and of course is perfect for the 4th of July.

In the meantime, my front yard is starting to look like pink snow when the wind blows because of the beautiful cherry blossoms.

I have fond memories of pink snow. Near the entrance to my preschool lived a beautiful flowering tree and each spring shortly after bloom, I would see piles of little white petals in drifts on the sidewalk and in little piles under the tree. It was such a treat for the little kiddos to experience pretend snow. From time to time when the wind was right I would rush us all outside without our coats to "play" in the snow as the petals blew all around us and got in our hair and decorated our clothes. I hope they remember the fun and silliness of it all. I would always read a book called "Hamilton Duck's Springtime Story." All about a duck that is quite alarmed that it is snowing only to find that it is flower petals.

Red, white and blue is perfect for this year....and always. If you think of it snap a photo of you planters with the RWB. It would be nice to see your creativity in flowers.

    Default 2.5 Day

My 2.5 Day project is finished, well at least the top is finished. Now I have to find a back and since it is 78X92, it will be sent out. I just can't man handle that much on my domestic.

It is cool outside today, the furnace actually clicked on. Sunny, clear skies and the geese just arrived for the morning honking session. We should be warm again in a day or two but then back to the 50's for the start of May. I have been watching all of the tornado destruction in the mid section of our country. Devastating and amazing the power of wind. So many people are now without homes and services. The fixer in me wants to rush out and make it all better, but that is not reasonable, only a feeling of my heart.

Enjoy your weekend and all of activities on your "To Do" lists. I will be watching for more 2.5 projects later today. Perhaps..."WE" will be watching for more 2.5 projects later today.

Okay guys, here are my two variations for the latest candy quilt. I'm not as in love with either as I thought I would be. (Did I post this last time too?) But trying for the effect I've seen online of colors contrasting with black/white/gray. any thoughts about whether you like the variation with sashing (dark gray? light gray? or something else?) are appreciated. Or, leave the sashing out but then it seems so jumbled together.

Pamelor, for my two cents, is that you need to watch for greater contrast, clear high contrast between your block center and your sashing. I noticed in the second photo the black/white prints did not provide enough contrast and they blend in with the blocks in the center rather than provide a line between the large center blocks. Hope that helps as you move ahead with your collection of 2.5's.

Do you view your project with your phone camera turned to gray scale? It will show the contrast before you go too far into the stitching process. I also have a red piece of plastic called a ruby finder. It works like the gray scale on the phone.

Thanks for posting your photos and asking your questions.

    Love those fall colors, WMU!

Pamelor, I like the light gray sashing.

I don't have a 2.5 project to share this month, but my Hunter's Star is the project on my design wall.
