Great advice...I will try this technique for sure on the 'just under' blocks.
Thanks!!!

working with half square triangles and quarter triangles that SCANT 1/4" seam makes a difference. wouldn't think so but it does. i learned the hard way myself thats why i make one block completely before sewing the others to check the size. i got a ruler from guidelines4quilting.com that has the 1/4" seam allowance in when you use the guide line markers. haven't tried the ruler out. already have my blocks cut out so i guess i will do the scant 1/4"

PoseyBell, I would be willing to take one of your lovely blocks that is a bit to small if you can't fix it.
In the layout I have planned I could easily compensate for up to 1/2" difference.

Hope that is Ok with you Dagney.

I will probably be sashing my blocks, so I don't care if they are a bit smaller. Maybe if you mark them with a note stating they are a bit smaller, they can go to those of us sashing our quilts.

Feline thanks for posting that wonderful tid-bit! I'll have to try that sometime.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I'm in trouble-I was in one of my favorite quilt stores a ways from home today. I have to admit I got weak and bought more batiks! I don't get into the store very often since it is a ways from home. And to say the least they have gorgeous fabrics. They had a beautiful selection of batiks and I couldn't pass it up! I just have to confess-Thank you all for listening to my confession! But it's your gain!

I will probably do the April Star or Aun Eliza's Star or Blockade...... I just might do more than 1 set. As soon as I make one, I'll let you know for sure.

I found a website that sells batiks "batik at fabric corner". I couldn't find any pretty ones at Joann's so I took to the website and that is what I found.
