It's frustrating to have to rip out what you've worked hard on, I know, but you'll be glad you did, and DIL will never know! :) Breathe deeply and oxygenate your lungs!

I love calling that reverse stitching. Doesn't sound so harsh.

I keep my ripper handy also but surely don't enjoy having to use it either.

I feel your pain. Yes, it is a small thing. You'll have a great table runner! Meg

Nope. I think this is a really widespread old wives tale. They feel that it would be presumptious to think they were so good that they had to "build in" a mistake so they wouldn't be as good as God.

It's always the little things that cause us the most troubles. Taking a break always makes things look like no big deal.

Oh gosh I do feel for you - small thing or not.

Have just had to make use of "Jack the Ripper" 3 times successively after putting the blocks of my sons quilt in the wrong place, wrong order and finally all in right but was 1& 1/2" out so huge ripple. Couldn't understand why until I suddenly discovered that I had inadvertently put on an extra sash. Dam! Oh well as you say, in the grand scheme of things it is "small stuff"
