Going to bookmark this. As a reader of mysteries I will be watching to see if you find any family. So many of the Viet Nam boys didn't come home. I hope this one did.

I'm with Lisa-wanna-b- quilter..
I just read this post to my sweetheart an old Vet his reaction was "it sad that Amelia know first and not Mom, now that's the sad part". My oldest brother went to Viet Nam and we have all his letter tucked in the flag we received, for he did not come back maybe this man made it back. Hope you can find him and give him his letter..

Hope you find the family. My brother served in Korea and my son in Nam. Both survived while many, many did not. The Lord was good to us.

Please keep us posted on how this turns out! If you could make the topic something that lets us know this is a follow up because some days I don't get to read all the topics. Oh I hope you find the family!

And to Ghetohound who tried to find the owner of the 1700 Bible, your story makes me wonder who would LIE to get a historical Bible?! The love of $$$ truly is the root of all evil.

I, too, would be willing to help to try and find the family. It's a beautiful machine, to be sure! Congrats on getting it!

As for Mom and "Amelia"...if Amelia is the wife, then by all means she should have known first, however she should have called his mother as soon as she knew! Often the men/women went on short notice, and there was little time to notify family. I know if it was my husband, and he chose to notify his mother and not me, there might be a little hell to pay!! As a mom, I would expect my son's wife to know before I did...natural order of things and all...
