Eleanor Burns does a quilt on her media theater using charm squares, it is under the 3100 series and I believe it is called "How Charming" I am almost positive it uses the 4" charms. Something you may want to check out. I really like it.

4" squares make a great OHIO STAR!
Combine 3 rows 2 alike to make just one block.
Look for a tutorial for scrappy ones.
Use a whole 4" s for the center, and using 2 squares, one scrappy - one plain, sewed and cut into a half square triangle for the points.( you will have little triangles cut off and left over)
Combine scrappy with a plain color that also will be your background color. You can alternate the scrappy stars with plain blocks - or scatter them.

Another idea is to cut some of them in half and then sew 3 together to make a little block. 4 1/2" x 4"
You can alternate those with plain blocks - in a staggered brick pattern.
Try cutting those little stripy blocks into triangles - perhaps of a odd size, but you can make a same size pattern to make plain triangles to combine with them into a pinwheel or other patterns that can use them.

I was so blessed to be given a trip to South Africa, and I wanted to experience being with the cheetahs. It is scary but so exciting. I still can't believe that was me petting cheetahs. I hope you will have the joy of doing the same someday soon.

I love your idea, but I am not at all experienced with making things with blocks. I mainly do applique, and I surely don't want to waste the beautiful squares for that. Your explanation went over my head :), because of my inexperience with using blocks. I wonder if I could use that Twister thing with the blocks. I would have to learn how to do that too.

Just looked at a web "Flics-Flacs" ([url]http://www.monikapatchwork.estranky.cz/fotoalbum/3---obrazkove-navody/flic-flac/[url]) and born of a pattern of squares together . The image is formed by cutting. It is a very nice pattern!
