I bought a Mele vacumn about 15 years ago and it is still working perfectly. I used to buy a new vacumn every year and got sick of spending $160 a year. The Mele was $700 and its now saving me $$$. They didn't have Dyson when I got my mele but I bet it is a good vacumn.

I have a rainbow and I love it! I vaccuum the carpets and floors then wash the floors with it. The good thing about it is that it keeps all the dust and dog hair inside a water tank so it doesn't fly around when emptying. Well worth the money I paid.

I love my Oreck - it leaves the room smelling so fresh - it must be something built into the bag - and I do not have to dust the furniture nearly as often - it deffinitely does the job and love the tools for getting into corners, and around my sewing area! Mine has a button on it you can push and it seems to draw dust like a magnet. I never smell dust when I vacuum. Just great! I'd never invest in any other brand again. and I've had lots of them....... not saying others are not good, but I have had my best luck with this Oreck.

Same here. The Shark Pet Vac is amazing!! Goes from floor to carpet easily, lightweight and goes for $150 at SAMs Club or on Sale at Kohl's. I used to clean houses after I retired and wouldn't use anything else. My daughter got one when she got her own place and it was sucking up all the old carpet shampoo powder. The canister smelled like soap afterwards.

What ever brand you choose, check the price of the replacement filters inside it. I bought a cheap Hoover, it has 2 filters inside it although it is a bag-less one. The regular dirt filter cost $10 and needs to be changed every couple of weeks! Needless to say I went back to the 20 yr old Mighty Mite and am happy with changing bags.

Eureka makes one that is called Sanitaire, you can buy it on line at THINKVACUUMS.COM
It runs about 200.00. I husband is a carpet installer and he swears by them. If you have pets it is wonderful picking up dog hair and the nap in the carpet seems to pick up when vaccumming. When we replaced are carpet my husband told he the true signs of a good vacuum is when you pull the carpet back and the amound of dirt that has shifted through the carpet is the true test. When he pulled ours back there was very little dirt or dust from the worn out pad. Not bad for 4 people 3 dogs and 2 cats. I highly reccomend the Sanitaire
