How inspiring & heartwarming! All the prayers that go into 1 quilt...in addition to the work. How wonderful the group is!

Pretty fast. They tie the center of every other sq. with yarn and pray as they tie. Quilts are for the ill, the bereaved, the newborns, etc.

I always assumed prayer shawls were crocheted or knitted. I have been knitting one for myself here and there. Glad to know I can also do a quilted version.

My church has a Prayer Shawl Ministry. We do knitting, crocheting and quilted shawls. I am currently working on a quilted rectangle made of squares of a breast cancer awareness ribbon pattern and solid pinks and whites. One of the recurrent themes to keep in mind is that you pray with all stitching. You may want to work your shawl in themes of three also( for the Trinity) such as 3 blocks, 3 colors, 3 designs. Just another way to be friends in the Lord!

I decided to start with that and make it a light weight quilt. Attached is one I came up with until I start it I won't know if I will add borders and I am not sure How I will do the binding on the inside angle. I just thought I would share. Can you imagine with zillions of blocks what you could come up with....

Please tell me what you think.
Beautiful...especially the color (my fav). the possibilities are endless

Here's one I made for my sister in 2008 when she was preparing to be ordained as a minister. I had just started quilting. It is held shut by a heart-shaped button and loop. In retrospect, I wish I had made it longer, but ran out of fabric - and I think I might not have used batting. She was sweet and wore it anyway.
