Since you are thinking of in the ditch, just quilt it in a small area, if it works do not remove the binding.

I finished a pillowcase without the heirloom sititching to keep the cuff flat after washing that I always add....but never a quilt..I guess because I always agonize over the quilting part....binding is my favorite part : )

I keep my seam ripper close because of the mistakes I make but I haven't done this one, yet.

I've gone back to put more quilting on a quilt which was already bound. Using my sewing machine not longarm of course. As long as you don't bump up on the binding, I don't see a problem.

Maybe we should cross reference this thread to 'why some people still pin their quilts' ? LOL
