    I have been collecting selvages. Looks like a great project in my near future, as I have been looking for more mug rug ideas

    My first tip would be don't be afraid to give up a tiny bit of the 'good' fabric. I cut off my selveges at 1.25 (1 1/4 inches) That way when you make a 1/4 inch seam you still have something to show for it. If you do the overlap method where you sew the first strip down on the very edge of the selvege and then place the next one on top, overlapping the raw edge of the first, then stitch across the edge of second piece, it should come out looking nice.
