Several members asked where I got this pattern and I tried to reply to their PM's. I got a message saying their inbox was full. The pattern I used is from http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...sea-quilt.html. The link to the pattern .pdf is http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...ilt-blocks.pdf

Very nice-looks like you planned it every step of the way.

No plan in mind except that the fabrics fit the allotted space.

Well done, what a beautiful block....the gingham and stripes work really well. Good for you on trying a new technique.

I'd been wanting to do paper piecing for a couple of years but the directions were always confutsing to me, i.e. "pin and sew your fabric to the back side of the printed pattern". I couldn't figure out how I would even know where to pin the fabric if i couldn't see the pattern and there were no classes in my location. Now I'm in South Texas for the winter and a quilter at our resort taught a class in PP. Wow!I love it and am so glad I can finally do it. I'm making a small mariner's compass and will post a picture when completed. I'll use it to make a wallhanging for my sewing room. CAN'T WAIT TO DO MORE OF IT.
Love your PP block, it looks great!!
