What a great quilt!! I love the colors you used. I'll bet Grandma will treasure it because it was made by both of you.

My mom and I made this quilt for my Grandma (my moms mother) for her 90th birthday a couple of years ago. She likes chickens and has lots of them in her house. Our quilt has one rooster amongst the chickens hence the name. The chickens are machine appliqued, we made some of the blocks for the different holidays, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Halloween, 4th of July, St Patricks day, etc. The rest are just random and colorful. We also appliqued eggs on some of the blocks with the hens. The hens are on blocks of chicken wire fabric and straw fabric, framed with a wood fabric to mimic a chicken coop. The back is egg fabric. We hand quilted around all the seams and around the chickens then mom used her machine and did a small tacking stitch around on the chicken to finish up the quilting. We had a great time making it and Grandma loved it!
That is a lovely quilt I know my aunt collect chicks items for her kitchen, and would love to have this for sure. Thanks for sharing and I like it very much so

That quilt is adorable! Next one should be of all the chicks that hatch out after the rooster has his day!!
