Roxanne....I have a huge collection of double knit quilts....Most are done by hand so maybe it's easier? I 'll have to post pix of them. Most are not quilted yet.

This quilt is very pretty! The quilting you did really enhances the pattern. I wondered where the dots came from...buttons! Nice touch! and good job!

I did not sew the top of the quilt. It was already appliqued but in assembling the quilt with the double knit backing, i laid the layers on the floor. MaskingTaped the double knit backing to the floor, stretching it as best i could. then layered the batting and then the top. No machine work was every done so I don't know how it would be in a sewing machine...The squares were all hand sewn together as well as the appliques. The back of the quilt is not exactly smooth but it quilted better than I thought. I have pics showing it on the floor with all the pins in it before I basted the layers together. sending them along.
Some double knit gives so I don't know how it would be machine quilted. Need to try one square and see how it goes.

    square all pinned

Thank you for answering a long-standing question -- does anyone ever quilt with knits? I still have a lot of knits that have held up through the years and I have often wondered how they would look in quilts. I might try one and see how it works out. I think polyester was a great fabric -- the colors never faded, you could wash it and never had to iron. And then cotton came along again.
